second trial of e wallpaper

i decided to work on another design of e wallpaper
still carry on with the same theme,
'Malaysia Independence Day'
but i want to redo my works because after get some comment from madam lydia itself and few of relatives
i think its better for me to redo my works

ok let it straights,
this is the working of my design

i used this picture and crop it using quick selection and polygon lasso tool
and this is how it look alike

then i put this malaysia flag
i put the flag behind the kuala lumpur building and i use the texture of this

then i blur the kuala lumpur picture using blur tools
and i placed national monument infront of all and this is how it look like
this is the result after i used type tool
and i placed it upper the middle
i used this sky picture and placed it beside the flag to make it look more balance
this is the result

CONCLUSION:

BEFORE
i personally think my wallpaper doesnt look like a MERDEKA celebration
but look more like its still in the WAR mood :p

AFTER:

maybe its still not PRO enough
but i'm still trying my best and sooner surely i can create something creative and unique :)

why merdeka not be considered as a festival?

hey there!
This time i would like to write some research that i've been searching all this while after Madam lydia was said that
Merdeka Day cannot be considered as a festival.
she also did showed me the list of festival in malaysia.

however,
i still do my research on this

first of all i think its better for me to define the meaning of FESTIVAL word itself

based on wikipedia,
A festival is an event, usually and ordinarily staged by a local community, which centers on and celebrates some unique aspect of that community and the Festival.

so why our National independence Day can't be considered as a festival?
while all malaysian are celebrating this festival every year.

another source define it as,
a day or time of religious or other celebration,
marked by feasting, ceremonies, or other observances: the festival of Christmas; a Roman festival.

a periodic commemoration, anniversary, or celebration: an annual strawberry festival.

a period or program of festive activities, cultural events, or entertainment: a music festival.

gaiety; revelry; merrymaking.

and even this websites also list our Merdeka day is one of the festival in Malaysia
along with hari raya celebration, chinese new year, deepavali and others.
so how could we denied that merdeka is ALSO one of the festival?

other proof that i found is through this site,
it listed all the festival in Malaysia
and of course Merdeka Day is listed!

i also tried to ask my friend's mom,
which is the history teacher from Sekolah Menengah Sains Seremban(SASER)
and she also agreed that merdeka day can be considered as a festival because festival is where people are  celebrating something memorable.

other than that,
if you write ' merdeka' in google search engine,
normally you will find words like 'merdeka festival'
so i definitely think that my theme is acceptable as one of the festival!

so i will continue with this theme
i hope madam lydia would read this and accept my theme for e-wallpaper

MERDEKA!

as i wrote before,
i'll be working for e-wallpaper with the theme of 'merdeka celebration'
so this is my working so far :)

this is 'tugu negara' or  malaysia national monument
i crop out the background using magic wand and for certain tough part i used polygon lasso tools
and then used eraser to fix it to look more natural.

oh
before that i make a new layer,
so it will be more easier to erase the background
(i think so)
part that i highlighted is the tool that i used to crop the background

this is how it look
after this part, i used polygon lasso tools because for me it is more easier
(its REALLY depends on people)

part that i highlighted is where i used magic wand to crop it out

this is how it will look alike

now i'm working on another picture,
and also i want to remove the backgroun
so i used quite the same technique

and then i use exposure to make it look good
then i play around using vibrance
third picture,
after i cropped out the backgroun

used hue and saturation
i place the sultan abdul samad building infront of the sky picture
i try to find strategic part to placed KLCC
i placed national monument in the front, followed by KLCC
and then behind KLCC i placed malaysian flag
the final placed i choose to placed it

and this is the FINAL touch
i used invert
this is how it look

this is not final yet,
because i want to retouch this picture and apply some opacity

new festival chosen

okey,
i decided to changed my e-wallpaper theme festival
i think its better for me to do local festival instead of doing la tomatina festival in spain

so i've decided to do
Malaysia Independence Day festivals

^____________^

research:
also known as 'Hari Merdeka' means 'independence day'
before this Malaysia is known as Malaya
The effort for independence was spearheaded by Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, who led a delegation of ministers and political leaders of Malaya in negotiations with the British in London for Merdeka, or independence along with the first president of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) Tun Dato Sir Tan Cheng Lock and fifth President of Malaysian Indian Congress Tun V.T. Sambanthan. Once it became increasingly clear that the Communist threat posed during the Malayan Emergency was petering out, agreement was reached on February 8, 1956, for Malaya to gain independence from the British Empire. However, for a number of logistical and administrative reasons, it was decided that the official proclamation of independence would only be made the next year, on August 31, 1957, at Stadium Merdeka (Independence Stadium), in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia Independence day is celebrated on every 31 august every year

this is Tugu Negara,
or national monument in english
is a sculpture that commemorates those who died in Malaysia's struggle for freedom, principally against the Japanese occupation during World War II and the Malayan Emergency , which lasted from 1948 until 1960. It is located in the Federal capital, Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian Houses of Parliament is situated near the monument.
The monument depicts a group of soldiers holding the Malaysian national flag, the Jalur Gemilang, aloft. Each of the bronze figures symbolizes leadership, suffering, unity, vigilance, strength, courage and sacrifice.
Every year on July 31, Hari Pahlawan (Heroes Day), the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Prime Minister and heads of military and the police pay their respects to the fallen heroes by laying garlands at the monument.

layers tutorial

how to make a layer using photoshop:

first,
open the photoshop application
and then choose file and click new

and then choose any size you like and click ok

and this is the workspace you have created

and then to create new layer,
click 'layer' on the right and then click the box i highlight in yellow
you can name the layer anything you want by right click on it and click 'layer properties'

then,
i used 'shape' on the left box and make a circle
and i used brush to make a yellow line on circle

and then
i make a new layer,
and name it as black line then
i used another brush with black color and drew it on cirlcle with yellow line

after that
i decided to make the black line to be in the back if circle with yellow line
so i hold the black line layer and put it below the circle with yellow line layer
and the result is like below :)
